Salcombe 7th & 8th August 2010

The cost for two days' diving will be £90 per person and camping on a farm a short drive from the harbour.  Diving will be from a hard boat called the Woodpecker.

As it is peak season, the campsite we went to last year won't have enough facilities to cope with a bunch of hairy-****ed divers as well as the hordes of holiday makers, so we will be staying nearby at Alston Farm Camping & Caravan Site. See www.alstoncampsite.co.uk for details. I can't find any directions on the website, so Google the postcode TQ7 3BJ for a map. The cost is £12 per night per tent or £15 for two sharing (see website for tariffs). We have been asked to camp in the field on the opposite side of the road from main site so as not to disturb the other happy campers when we roll out at an ungodly hour of the morning - that or they think we smell.

The Plan so far:

Saturday - Leave Salcombe @ 0900 (Meet @ 0830)

Dive 1 Persier  (28 m) - @ 1100

Dive 2 Maine  (30 m) - @ 1330

Arrive Salcombe - @ 1500 (back of shop)

Sunday - Leave Salcombe - @ 1245 (Meet @1215)

Dive 1 Newholme (28-44 m) - @ 1415

Dive 2 TBC - @ 1630

Arrive Salcombe - @ 1730

The reasons are:

1. As you won't be able to get Nitrox fills in Salcombe, this will allow you to take suitable Nitrox fills for the Persier and Maine and get them topped up to suit Sunday's dives better.

2. It will be less of a rush to get back to harbour on Saturday in time to get said fills.

3. You will have Sunday morning to lie and sober up after Saturday night.

Although it will be a later finish than hoped on Sunday, you should still be able to get home before 21:00.
